Thank you Deputy Medina for sharing a DARE lesson with kindergarten about what to do in case of an emergency!

We love to eat lunch with Deputy Medina!

The Seniors in Baking 101 did a fabulous job making pies!

Kindergarten did some apple counting in math for Johnny Appleseed Day. We read 10 Apples Up On Top by Dr. Seuss and counted to see how many we could stack. We actually made it to 6 apples but the tower fell before we got the picture!

Has your child talked about UFLI?
The University of Florida Literacy Institute (UFLI) Foundations program is a research-based approach to teaching reading and spelling.
The program helps children master the foundational skills for reading and writing through a deliberate, step-by-step process.
Your child will learn how to:
Connect letters and sounds: Students learn to automatically recognize the sound that each letter or letter combination (grapheme) represents.
Blend sounds to read: They practice combining individual sounds to read entire words, a process called decoding.
Break apart words to spell: Students also learn to break a word down into its individual sounds to be able to spell it correctly (encoding).
Master "irregular" words: The program explicitly teaches words that don't follow typical phonetic rules, like "said" or "come." These are sometimes called "heart words".
Read and write connected text: The ultimate goal is for students to apply their new skills to read sentences and passages
