Good morning,
First of all - thank you everyone for your patience and understanding of how difficult weather related decisions about school can be. Days like Monday are even more difficult as the snowfall did not follow the script and we got more, and longer, than we were expecting. We went from being ok, to thinking it would pass and by 3:15 it would clear and roads would be treated, to we need to start getting folks home as it is just getting worse.
Tomorrow (Thursday) morning it is going to be very cold. Please keep morning bus riders inside, or in your vehicle, until the bus pulls up. Our drivers have been instructed to wait at each stop to allow for this. Anytime we have snow and/or ice on the ground our bus drivers are going to go slower than normal, and we want it that way. Our kitchen staff is excellent...when our buses run late, breakfast will be waiting. During the winter months, if you are able to, please consider picking your child up in the afternoons to help reduce bus route times as much as possible. If it is a tranportation change from the normal just let our front office know and we will facilitate.
As a parent I know that wearing a coat is not the cool thing to do, but please nudge these kiddos to dress warm. I am running out of subtle ways to tell our adolescent males that refusing to put on a coat (or even full length pants) in the winter doesn't make you look tough. Let's all also help our kids by monitoring potential symptoms of illness, blow your nose, wash your hands, cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze, and stay home when you are sick.
Thanks again. I hope to see you all at some upcoming games and concerts!
